10:19 pm thoughts on caring

trying to help someone is one of the hardest things we do as humans. because you simply cannot live their life. you cannot walk around in their body, see through their eyes, or think as they do. you can put the shirt over them, but it is their job to pull their head through.

and that is what, in no glorified terms, sucks.

your role is to offer whatever advice you can, and then you must sit back. their hardships are their hardships, just as yours are yours.

for me, as i have sort of embodied this optimistic persona, i find the need to abolish all pessimism and negativity that others have towards their goals, their lives, their aspirations, and struggles.

and it makes me very emotional.

because i know my optimism can only reach so far. their frustration, their loss, is something that i am not able to mend with my bare hands.

and we try to, as people, we do. we try to sew up their stitches, we try to warm their frigid souls, we try to put the lid on their jars of distress.

but the success of our kindness has absolutely nothing to do with us and absolutely everything to do with them. because each and every stitch can be plucked out, the souls can freeze, and the lids can fall off.

we just have to give them enough hope to mend themselves.

just a thought--sonder

sonder; definition: the realization that each passerby has a life as vivid and complex as your own. i find this idea to be quite beautiful.one of my favorite personal (and seemingly odd i suppose) act
